[Ladies and gentlemen of Johto, we interrupt your regularly scheduled programming this evening for a Very Special Radio Broadcast™, coming to you direct from Goldenrod Radio Tower...and conveniently lacking in all those pesky little bits of red tape like authorization and advance permission that just get in the way of the show.

As such, the usual Pokemon favorites are conspicuously absent; they've been replaced by something a bit more palatable to the discerning listener. Tangos, jazz, the occasional rondo here and there. And the usual DJs? Yes, well, it turns out they've been replaced by something a bit more palatable, too. Namely, a pair of troublemakers calling themselves

futariniousama and

usedlaserbeam.

First up, a sultry alto (which may seem oddly familiar to a few of you), sounding perhaps more suited to a phone sex hotline than a radio station host: ]

"Evening, Johto~ Are you ready for a very special treat? Because have we got a surprise for you~"

[Then, following that alto, a deeper voice proceeds to chime in—one that a very select few might recognize as sounding very familiar to one Atobe Keigo.]

"And you should all feel honored for the once-in-a-lifetime experience you're about to be given."

[And without missing a beat, the voice switches back—]

"See, we've decided to borrow your airwaves for a little while. Oh, don't worry! We'll take good care of them, promise~"

"Tonight, instead of the usual mundane drivel you people normally content yourselves with—"

"—we're gonna turn up the heat a little bit—"

"—and bring some culture back into your poor, wanting lives."

[And as the first song cues, feel free to just sit back, enjoy the music, revel in the change of pace—or if you're really feeling moved, why not call in? The lines are open, the DJs are waiting, and they'd just love to hear what you have to say. Or, if there's some burning question that's on your mind, why not phone it in to tonight's premiere of Ask Ore-sama, and let him offer his worldly advice to you?

[OOC: And now, for the tl;dr explanation of these mod-approved shenanigans! Basically, Yagyuu and Niou share a mutual anniversary in Johto, and they've decided to celebrate it by hijacking the radio tower and running an impromptu radio show for an hour or two this evening. Characters are free to tune in, react accordingly, phone in to the radio station via their Gears, etc! The show itself will end rather abruptly when the Kangaskhan Cops arrive and our dastardly duo makes their escape. But hey, an inch is as good as a mile, and a narrow getaway is still a getaway, right? But they won't leave Jenny and her Kangaskhan high and dry, either; local law enforcement will find a polite note left behind for them, courtesy of 'Bonnie and Clyde'.

Strictly limited? My knowledge? What an absurd thing to say.

Oh, I meant your willingness to provide it, not your knowledge itself~ But, in any case, perhaps you'll be good enough to answer this one for me, then.

Suppose that, hypothetically of course, there was an acquaintance of yours, who you were perhaps not on the best of terms with for one reason or another, but generally managed to maintain cordial relations with. Then say that one day you discover this acquaintance impersonating a good friend of yours behind their back for rather untoward purposes, and had an opportunity to confront them about it. What would be the best response?

Oh, I've got this one.

The real questions you're trying to ask, sweetheart, are these: first of all, what are their motivations? Are they doing it just to get under your skin? Second of all, are they doing any harm to your friend? And most importantly... are they doing it well?

Because talent can excuse almost any behaviour.

Unlikely for the first two points, though one can never tell for sure. For the last, well, it isn't that far off, though it's not perfect by far.

And I'd agree that talent can excuse quite a lot, but the friend himself would be rather displeased, you see. Is it not the duty of a true friend to register a complaint in his absence?

[Not perfect by far? ...Scarily enough, for a moment Yagyuu actually can't tell which side of him is the one bristling at that, the gentleman playing the role or the ice emperor being called imperfect.]

Ah, but isn't it also the duty of a true friend to remind him that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?

Mm, perhaps later, but surely you're not suggesting nothing be done to the offender. What if gossip spreads and damages your perfect reputation?

You're needlessly over-complicating the issue. How fortunate that you called in so we could give you the benefit of our insight.

[Because he can't help but catchphrase, even now.]

Your problem is that you're using your friend as a excuse to voice your own feelings on the issue. As you said yourself just now, it's not really your friend's reputation you're truly concerned with; it's your own in relation to him. Which is why it's truly a pity that your friend isn't Ore-sama--not that anyone could ever hope to imitate that level of magnificence. A truly perfect reputation won't hold a stain, you know.

Really, I'd suggest taking a step back and considering my lovely co-host's advice again.

Hmm, am I really? Because I don't recall saying anything of the sort, myself. Particularly since I do believe, in this hypothetical circumstance, that the imitiation could quite possibly result in negative consequences to my friend regardless of the intention.

But, what would you suggest instead, then, if I may ask?

Hypothetically, why don't you ask yourself if this is truly a battle your friend would want you to fight on his behalf?

Oh, I'd say he wouldn't, actually. He'd much rather do it himself, but unfortunately he isn't around at the time of the offense. Hypothetically. But it doesn't seem quite right to just ignore the matter entirely.

Then clearly the answer is to negotiate. Hold a weekend summit at the personal spa and retreat on your private island and resolve the difficulty in luxury and style.
