003 | Violet City | Video / Action;
[Greetings, Johto! This video is coming to you from some secluded part of the streets of Violet City, courtesy of PhantomCam™, and features one Yagyuu Hiroshi sitting comfortably on a bench beneath the shade of a tree, engrossed in a book with his backpack resting securely at his feet. Perhaps most notably, he's not wearing his yellow-and-black Regulars jersey today, which is largely because it's currently piled next to him on the bench in something vaguely approximating a nest, with what can only be a Pokemon egg resting safely inside.
Yagyuu, for his part, is mostly oblivious to the fact that he's currently on candid cam, but the reason for it quickly becomes apparent—the egg in its nest is beginning to rock gently from side to side, making vaguely egg-like noises, and gradually beginning to glow.
(Fortunately, Phantom is wise enough to the workings of Pokemon hatchings that he's taken the initative to record this for posterity, regardless of whether or not his trainer is as quick on the uptake about it.)
Another few moments pass, and now at last Yagyuu takes notice, setting his book aside and turning his full attention to watch as the egg wobbles, brightens, cracks—]

Vee! Eevee!
[—and yields a bouncing newborn Eevee, still snug and secure in the jersey-nest, taking her first look at the world.
Book completely forgotten now, Yagyuu carefully extends a hand to his newest Pokemon, letting her inspect him a minute; after a few courtesy sniffs and nudges, the Eevee hops out of her nest and climbs up into Yagyuu's lap instead, settling in to ensure his full attention as she carefully inspects the human who's going to be her trainer. A minute later, Yagyuu's hands come to rest on her back, stroking through her fur as he conducts an appraisal of his own. This is, after all, his first attempt at breeding a Pokemon, and he's clearly intent on thoroughly examining just how well it turned out.]
Ah, aren't you a friendly one. Yes, it's a pleasure to meet you, too.
[And as Yagyuu continues to fuss over his new Eevee, Phantom apparently decides that his work here is done, and switches the feed off.]

action;
[ Niou obligingly pets her head, then pauses to scratch gently at her forehead and behind her ears. ]
action;
[He pauses, a thought occurring to him.]
Niou-kun, your daughter by proxy.
action;
[ He scratches Lady under the chin. ]
action;
[And her eyes begin to fall closed as she proceeds to adore the attention.]
action;
[ Niou seems almost as pleased as she does. ]
action;
And while I'm at it, forgive me for hoping she doesn't take after your Ditto and turn out purple somehow.
action; l m a o Alex you are too much
[ As if on cue, Niou's wristwatch detaches itself and falls to the ground in a metallic heap, where it dissolves and reforms into an Eevee. ]
action; I enjoy dramatic irony
[Lady's ears go up at once, and she sneaks out from under Niou's hand, hunkering down and peering over the edge of her jersey-nest to investigate this new interesting thing. It looks like her, but it doesn't smell right.]
action; as do I, bro. as do I.
Can't argue; she's cuter for sure.
action;
[He resists the urge to take a step back, but instead scoops Lady out of her nest and gently sets her on the ground, letting her investigate the purple Eevee more properly. They are somewhat related, after all. Theoretically, it'll play nice.
He hopes.]
They're permitted in the cafe, I assume?
action;
[ Niou turns to lead the way, then, and after just a moment of inspecting Lady, Sugar the Eevee scampers after him. When Niou's strides get too long, Sugar tucks itself into a ball and rolls along, never losing momentum. or speed. ]
action;
action;
action;
Also, they're them. Which is more than enough of an explanation as it is.]
After you, Niou-kun?
action;
Niou leads the way to a table in the corner that gives them a decent view of nearly the entire café, and he pauses there, looking first down at his chair, then up at Yagyuu. How much chivalry does he have to spare today? ]
action;
Are you planning to have me order for you while I'm at it? Cover the check for the both of us?
[He moves for his chair, settling Lady and her nest carefully into it, and then circles back around toward Niou's, stepping just slightly too close—enough that their arms bump lightly at the elbows—as he goes by to retrieve the chair for his partner.]
See you home to your front door when we're through, perhaps?
action; let's pretend 'Drifloon' was never mentioned, and that I proofread my tags.
No, yes and yes.
[ He folds his hands beneath his chin and watches the waitresses flit back and forth. ]
action; I saw nothing.
[And then it's back to his own chair, shifting Lady and nest into his lap as he sits, watching Niou a few moments before turning his own attention to the hustle and bustle of the cafe. It's all Pokemon, of course, which isn't the most ideal, but still—no, it's interesting. And the costumes, Pokemon though they may be, are...intriguing.]
action;
[ He tears his eyes from the long legs and short skirts to watch his partner peruse the café staff. ]
action;
[There's a girl in a Butterfree costume that's particularly eye-catching, mostly for the sake of the wings. And also, perhaps, that she seems to be quite short, and making up for it with a decidedly tall pair of heels...
...not that he's looking or anything. Not in the slightest. It's just interesting.]
action;
[ There's no hint of malice in the remark, only a little laugh as he nudges Yagyuu's ankle beneath the table. ]
action;
[And the nudge draws his attention right back to Niou, the faintest hint of a smile playing at the corners of his lips.]
action;
God only knows how I lived six months without you to make my decisions for me.
[ There's very little serious about this, either, regardless of the subject. Niou figures it's about time they gloss over the pain of those six months and turn it into a palatable subject. ]
action;
That's what your conscience is for, Niou-kun. That little voice in your head that sounds like me?
[As the smile on his lips stays the same, but the one reflected in his eyes turns just a hint sharper.]
action;
That little voice? You wouldn't believe some of the shit it says to me.
