Having seen several mentions of the upcoming holiday season already, I suppose this is as prudent a time as any to raise awareness of Souji-kun's Breeding Centre and Foster Home for Pokemon — both fine places for anyone looking to acquire a new Pokemon. Though he's regrettably no longer among us, his legacy lives on in the form of these two institutions, and the very capable Saber-san has graciously taken up the charge of overseeing them in his absence. I myself can vouch for the reputability of the organizations, and likewise would personally recommend them to any trainers interested in augmenting their rosters or finding gifts for a friend or acquaintance.

Of the two, I'd particularly emphasize the existence of the Foster Home. There are many benefits to raising a Pokemon from hatching, of course, but there's likewise something undeniably rewarding about being the person to provide a good home for a stray in need. ~~No matter what that stray might be.~~

That said, speaking of finding good homes for Pokemon needing one, it seems I have some eggs of my own to contend with. Anyone interested in acquiring one, please inquire within; I'll attach the list of types available to this post.

You're interested in the Shuckles?

[He has the same reaction about Shellos, man, it's okay.]

It wouldn't actually be for me. A friend of mine wanted one a while back, but no one answered his ad on the network. I haven't had the time to go to Cianwood and pick one up for him.

I'm certainly not complaining; it's simply that Quag's progeny never generally draw much interest, being that they're...well. Shuckles. Quite frankly, I wouldn't even have him myself, save for the fact that my Quagsire adopted him several months back and now refuses to give him up.

So yes, by all means, take all of them if you care to. And the Druddigon I can vouch for as an excellent specimen, as well.

Have you noticed anything special in particular about Shuckles? I didn't actually ask why he wanted one and I've only seen them from an aerial view.

No temperament issues with the egg's parents? I'll work with whatever I get, but I'm curious.

[That last egg from Yagyuu hadn't turned out quite like he expected, after all.]

The most notable thing I can think of is their shell — if you put a berry inside a Shuckle and let it ferment, eventually it will turn into a potion. There's something about the environment within the holes in their shell that produces those chemical processes. But other than that, they're actually fairly boring; they're not particularly intelligent, nor are they very adept fighters.

Were you acquainted with Nero-kun? The mother is his Victrix; she's stubborn, certainly, but not unpleasant, and a certain amount of stubbornness isn't necessarily a bad thing in a dragon, anyway. The sire was a Deino I acquired in a trade a while back.

[Well, that definitely explained that. Chemical processes are right up Albert's alley.]

It sounds like it's pretty useful, though. I can sort of see why he'd want one.

Not really, but I once bought an egg from a sale you two did together. That was actually why I was wondering. The Charmander I got is very stubborn, especially when it comes to sleeping.

Ah, yes, that's right. That would've been Red, and I do recall she was quite the troublemaker on Nero-kun's roster. And with Narcissus as a father, I can hardly find it surprising you had trouble with that one.

This one ought to be better-tempered, if it's any consolation.

It is nicer to have a dragon that actually wants to do something with you, instead of ignoring you completely, so that's something.

Are you going to be charging for them this time?

I hadn't planned on it, though I certainly won't refuse you if you're determined to offer me money.

I will suggest, as far as the Druddigon is concerned, that you watch out for a possible tendency to hug. Its mother has an unfortunate inclination toward rough, sandpapery embraces.

I will definitely keep that in mind for when it hatches, thanks.

Since I'm taking more than one, I'd feel better about it if I paid you. Are all the Shuckles left?

As I said, it's not necessary, but I certainly won't stop you. Much obliged.

There's four of them, I believe, and as yet you're the only one to express any interest.

[Five eggs, huh. Yeah, Yagyuu definitely deserves payment. Especially since he can't exactly guarantee the best of homes for the Shuckles, what with Albert's attitude.]

You mentioned the Breeding Centre and the Foster Home. Are you in Goldenrod right now?

I am. I've found I don't move much from the house these days, both because I have little reason to and because managing my roster is so difficult as it is.

Letting them all free in a house is definitely easier. But I happen to be in Goldenrod too right now, if you're free to meet up.

I am, yes. Would you care to come by the house, or shall I meet you somewhere?

I'm already out. I can come over there if you tell me where it is or what it looks like.

[He had gotten pretty good at navigating throughout Goldenrod, for how much he'd hated the city when he'd first arrived.]

Five eggs would be a lot for you to carry out just for my sake, anyway.

Do you know where the Breeding Center is? It's the house next door, with the garden on the side and the tennis court out back.

And believe me, having contended with five eggs hatching at once, simply carrying them is almost a relief at this point.

[So he'll be right down there after a quick stop at the center to deposit a few pokeballs, keeping only Valhallarama on hand--probably not the best decision, since she's still only level one, but she's awake and wanting to be held. What is a father to do?

[And despite the cold, he'll be on the front porch with a nest of eggs beside him, wrapped snugly in a pile of blankets and covered on top by a happily snoozing Vulpix.]

[Along comes this stupidly-dressed teen. Seriously, the Cubone is more bundled up than him.]

Hey! Yagyuu, right? I'm Hiccup.

[As this is the first time he's actually Yagyuu... Wow, dude, you're sort of younger than he was expecting, even with your age-defying looks.]

[Yeah, don't mind him side-eyeing a little there, Viking Bro, where is your coat, seriously.]

That's right. It's a pleasure to meet you. And this is Masako, my Vulpix; I presume she'll wake up once I try to get your eggs out from under her, so I might as well make introductions for her while I'm at it.

[Hey, he's got a hoodie. Good enough for a Berk viking.]

Masako... Looks like she's got quite the job, keeping all those eggs warm. [With a whimper to remind Hiccup that she's there and a squirm to get a better look, the little Cubone turns her eyes to Yagyuu and his Vulpix.] This is Valhallarama--or Val. I'm surprised she's not asleep right now, too.

It's more a mutually beneficial arrangement between the two of us, really. She likes to be near me, and it's better for the eggs this way as well.

[He gives Masako a fond pet, which makes her rouse and perk up a little.]

Have you enjoyed raising a Cubone? I have one, as well, and he's quite the shy little creature; I had to get him a friend in order to bring him out of his shell.

I have, even if she's been a little moody lately--Stop putting that in my nose.

[Val reluctantly lowers her club again. It's his fault she's all "moody", okay? Getting another pokemon that wanted to be carried around... Really, Hiccup.]

Val's a lot like Masako, though--she likes to be held or at least close by.
