007 | Outskirts of Goldenrod City | Video / Action;

[It's late afternoon on the outskirts of Goldenrod City, where Yagyuu has evidently been out training his team; it's a somewhat unusual sight to see them all out of their Pokeballs at once, but at the moment the full roster has been released to roam around the open expanse of field chosen for today's practice grounds.

Or at least, most of the full roster is: there's an Absol staked out relatively near his trainer, seemingly on high alert as he surveys the other Pokemon in his midst. Farther back from the camera, a Rapidash is roaming with a stately air as a very small Vulpix trots along beside him, bounding four steps for every one of his own. And even Yagyuu's Ditto seems to be present— if the occasional glimpse of purple molecular goo seeping over the edges of the camera lens is any indication.

Yagyuu himself is visible, too; he's crouching down to administer his Eevee's usual meticulous grooming— an activity she clearly seems to enjoy, given the way her tail is flicking with pleasure at the attention— and speaking quietly to her while he's at it.]

Now that Vampa's evolved, that only leaves you to go, doesn't it?

[And she coos, pushing her head against his hand insistently.]

You're certainly growing strong enough for it. And the necessary stones aren't particularly difficult to come by, either; a quick trip to the department store will easily take care of that. So it's just a matter of deciding which type suits you best, isn't it?

[He glances over, surveying his team as they roam and remarking almost absently:]

An electric type, perhaps, might—

[But he never gets the chance to finish the sentence, as the Eevee lets out one last emphatic trill before taking one step back and beginning to glow with bright, almost blinding light—

— and when it clears, there's an Espeon in her place, just as perfectly well-groomed and somehow managing to look twice as haughty for it.

Yagyuu, for his part, just stares for a few seconds before shaking his head in what is probably half amusement and half disbelief.]

...Ah.

[And he keeps staring, up until a Pidgeot comes flapping down from overhead a few minutes later, drawing his attention up and away from the Espeon and toward this latest arrival.]

Irene, another excellent job, but I see we'll have to work at perfecting your aim—

[And on that fairly cryptic note, purple goo oozes completely over the lens, and the Gear switches off.]

Opposable thumbs do tend to be a pivotal component of that venture, it's true.

--eh? Why do you say that? It's not as if they ever had an interest in their activities in the first place. If anything, I'm more surprised no one has come after me or my friends, since we know how to get into their base and all...

I will, then! Has she gotten very good at it yet? Are her landings smooth?

Huh. Maybe I should ask him if he's had any prophecy dreams about other things, too.

Oh, she's demonstrated remarkably precise aim recently. I have no doubt she'll be able to make any deliveries to you with pinpoint accuracy. It's mostly just a matter of finding you in the grander sense.

[identity profile] usedlaserbeam.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure he'd be more than happy to divine a reading for you, if you asked. Aren't you in Ecruteak City? I seem to recall he was heading that way himself.

[identity profile] usedlaserbeam.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
That's precisely what I meant. I doubt being expelled from the organization solved much of any problem, since the organization's ability to seek retribution doesn't hinge on whether or not your friends are a part of it.

... er.

Well, if nothing else, they won't be keeping track of them 24/7 anymore... That's the important part, I think.

... Y'know, I don't think any of mine have opposable thumbs.

Mine mostly come possessed of paws, talons, and hooves as well. Though I imagine at least one could find a way to swing a racket, if left to his own creative devices.

[identity profile] restardom.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Your Ditto, yeah?

... That'd be something. [ she's not sure if she wants to picture this. ]

[Ah, yes, and the Ditto, too.]

Arsène does have a certain knack for innovation, when motivated toward it. The catch, therefore, is in finding the right motivation.

[identity profile] restardom.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
That shouldn't be too hard! You've just gotta have a good grasp on that sort of thing.

[identity profile] usedlaserbeam.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Having a good grasp on a Ditto is a feat in itself, though, isn't it?

They're slippery little things when they want to be!

This one, at least, seems amenable to doing as he's told. Though I'd characterize the relationship as much more of a mutually beneficial standing agreement than that of a trainer and his pet.

It certain made her happy-- that's a very fetching shade of purple.

I agree, though I do hope the trend won't continue among my roster. Two purple members will be more than enough.

I didn't know you were so color-conscious.

[identity profile] usedlaserbeam.livejournal.com 2011-09-11 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not the color, it's the method. The only way any further members of my roster should be turning purple is if they have an unfortunate incident with a bottle of dye, and that's something I'd like to avoid at all costs.

Just trainin'. The day's too nice to spend it indoors. 'sides, it's a good way to get to know the neighbourhood.

[he blinks a little following the flurry of movements coming from the small and furry creature that he hadn't taken note of when he arrived, having face the opposite direction on his approach. his hand goes to the back of his hand, rubbing sheepishly.] I didn't scare the little guy, did I? I--

[and then, he breaks off, because his line of sight trails up the sturdy legs crowding around the little fox like a cage all the way up the equine chest, the thick neck, the intelligent eyes, and-- he takes a step back.] Woah. Is that horse really on fire?

Hm? [He glances up from Lady, gaze turning first to Jackal and then to the pair of Fire Pokemon nearby, somehow unsurprised to see his Vulpix peering out from behind his Rapidash's legs.] Ah, don't mind Masako. It's simply her nature to be shy, I think.

[Meanwhile, Vampa--who has caught on that he's being stared at--tosses his head proudly and regards this new person with an even, almost stern look. He doesn't seem harmful or dangerous, this stranger, so he's not particularly concerned. Especially since he knows Stomp as a fallback plan.

And once again, it's Yagyuu for the assist--]

Indeed he is. But perhaps more surprising still is that he has some innate method of shielding people from the heat, if he so chooses. Fire Pokemon like Vampa tend to be curious that way, in my experience.

Lady was the last, I believe. Unless the information at my disposal is incorrect, they should've all reached their final state of evolution by now.

On the other hand, the musical isn't over until the small fox sings.
